I first became interested in wildflowers while living in a remote area of Eastern Europe, untouched by modern methods of cultivation and the chemicals that unfailingly accompany them.
I embarked on a personal project of photographing them—both to preserve the images and to learn how to identify the many varieties. I've continued this avocation in England, where I have been impressed by the great variety of wildflowers that can still be found here. It is much to the credit of the many environmental and heritage organisations, and to the English themselves, that so much effort is made to preserve these plants that many people look upon as weeds.
